Claude H. Schaeffer Sr.
Claude H. Schaeffer Sr., 87, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday while a resident of Renaissance Senior Homes, Orwigsburg. Born March 4, 1933, in Lincoln, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Bridegon Schaeffer. Claude was a veteran of the Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. Claude was a member of Buck-Fever Rod and Gun Club, Pottsville. He worked as a crane operator for Kane Steel, formerly known as Krop. Claude then went on to work for Tuscarora Coal Co. He was a member of International Teamsters Local 429. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also building racecars in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. Schaeffer, who passed away last year, along with their son, Robert Schaeffer. Claude is survived by his children, Bonnie Vesay, wife of John, of Pine Grove, Claude H. Schaeffer Jr., husband to Krista, of Pottsville, and Michelle Moraski, wife of Kenneth, of Fort Mill, S.C. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Regina Fanelli, Dana Mady, Matthew Vesay, Cory Schaeffer, Lauren Bouldin and Ryan, Christine, Kyle and Ashley Moraski; great-grandchildren; along with his brother, James Schaeffer and his wife, Catherine. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.grabowskifuneralhome.com .
