In memory of
John Geelhoed
Geelhoed, John Grand Rapids, Michigan John Atwood Geelhoed, age 90, of Grand Rapids, started his celebration with his Savior on Sunday, August 30, 2020. We rejoice in his strong faith in Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his four children, Greg and Milana Geelhoed, Kevin and Karen Geelhoed, Dan and Cinda Geelhoed, and Matt and Lynn Geelhoed, 11 cherished grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Esther in August of 2017; and his sisters, Adrian, Arlene & Nellie. John graduated from Kelloggsville High School in 1948, served in the US Air Force, and graduated from Davenport College following his service to his country. He worked in the accounting profession with Guardsman Chemical, Davis Die Casting and most recently SpendMend where he was simply known as Mr. G. He participated in several sports throughout his lifetime playing, coaching and occasionally heckling from the sidelines. He was most proud of raising his 4 boys and spending time with his friends golfing, fishing and enjoying happy hour. After retiring he spent 20 years as a snowbird migrating between Fort Myers, Florida and Grand Rapids, Michigan. John was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank all our friends for the prayers and support. Funeral services were held graveside on Wednesday, September 2nd at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where he was laid to rest next to his loving wife. The service was officiated by Pastor Jeremy Swem & Pastor North Sherrill. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. If one wishes, please consider making a memorial donation to support God's mission through Our Savior Lutheran Church and School. www.oursavior-gr.org .
