Sister Caroline Laiso Rsm
Sister Caroline Laiso, RSM Hartsdale - Sister Caroline Laiso of the Sisters of Mercy, age 87, died at McAuley Health Care Center in Watchung, NJ, on Sunday, November 24, 2019. Born in Bronx, to the late Ella and Larry Laiso, she is survived by her brother, Edward, her sister, Mary Young and their families. She loved meeting people and throughout her life had a warm and caring concern for the well- being of others. Sister Caroline's years in ministry were notable for their diversity. She began teaching in elementary schools in Manhattan and the Bronx; then in secondary schools in Westchester County, Saranac Lake, and the Bronx. She served as administrator at Mt. Mercy in Dobbs Ferry, a member of the Sisters of Mercy Generalate team in Bethesda, Maryland and as a member of the New York Province Leadership team. For several years she was a member of the parish council staff in the Newark Diocese in New Jersey and as Executive Director of Consultative Services in the Rockville Center Diocese in New York. Sister Caroline was often invited to serve as a process facilitator at community meetings by a number of religious communities of women. Sister Caroline's funeral arrangements will be held at Marian Woods, 152 Ridge Road, Hartsdale, NY, 10530. Wake service: Sunday, December 1, from 3:00 to 6:30 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass: Monday, December 2, at 10:00 AM. Burial: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters of Mercy, 150 Ridge Road, Hartsdale, NY 10530.
