The family of Carol Theresa (Connolly) Ostrander is saddened to announced her passing on September 3, 2018 at the age of 61. She died peacefully at home in the presence of her husband of 39 years, Gary Ostrander. Carol was born on Oct. 12, 1956 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to William and Margaret (Maguire) Connolly and graduated from Churchhill Area High School. In 1975, the Connolly family relocated to Venice, Florida. Carol then met Gary and they wed on November 25, 1978. She had two children, Jason and Angela, and attended Manatee Community College. She worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 17 years. Carol was an avid reader, loving parent, and sweet soul who gave more than she received. She was a member of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. She was also known to care and befriend local homeless residents who needed help. She continued trying to volunteer and help others long after she was physically capable of doing so. Carol was born a Catholic and recently attended services at the Angel Ministries. She is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Jason Ostrander and Angela Stroud; and her grandchildren, Olivia Ostrander, Luke Ostrander, and Avalon Stroud. Carol is also survived by her six sisters, Faith, Mary, Nancy, Joanne, and Jean; her brother, Jimmy; and eleven nephews and nieces. There will be a visitation from 1p.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, at Farley Funeral Home, Venice with a service beginning at 3 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
