Bobbie Jean Sparks
Bobbie Jean Sparks, 83, of Tekonsha, died on Friday, August 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family following a long illness. Mrs. Sparks was born on January 22, 1935 in Hazard County, Kentucky to William J. and Emma E. (Proffitt) Spencer. She graduated from Adult High School. On January 22, 1953 she married Charles L. Sparks in Peru, Indiana at the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He survives. Mrs. Sparks was a homemaker staying home to raise her family. She was a member of the Christian Pilgrim Church in Coldwater. She along with her husband Reverend Charles Sparks would help minister to people in need, and it showed with her love for music and cooking. She would have a meal ready to share for anyone in need. Mrs. Sparks enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and loved the Detroit Tigers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles of Tekonsha; children, Charles (Angela) Sparks of Fowlerville; Gloria (Halbert Lynn) Brown of Vicksburg, Sherrie (Phil) Damon of Marshall, Donna Sprague of Otsego; 10 Grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norris Spencer of Nashville, Tennessee and Robert Spencer of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson David Damon in 1998; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Family will greet friends on Wednesday August 22, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 North with Family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 1pm on Thursday August 23, 2018 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Marshall Chapel with Pastor David Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Cemetery. Family will gather with friends following the committal services at the Fredonia Township Hall. Memorial contributions are requested to Christian Pilgrim Church or the Gideon's Foundation in Coldwater. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
