Bill Benney, 75, of Hallsville, MO passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Funeral service was 11am, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, MO with burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends gathered from 10-11am, Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Bill was born March 18, 1943 in Linn, MO to William and Bessie Laughlin Benney. He grew up in Linn, MO before moving to Columbia and graduating from Hickman High School in 1961. He served in the US Army and Reserves for two years until his release in 1964. In 1965, he married Barbara Coleman in Columbia. He would work in sales for Pepsi Co. for 40 years until he retired in 2003. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, golfing and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Benney of Hallsville; sons, Russ (Robin) Benney of Imperial, MO, Greg Benney of Hallsville, and Brad (Cindy) Benney of Columbia; grandchildren, Ryan and Adam Benney of Imperial, and Emma Lea and Aubrie Jo Benney of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melba Moergen; and grandson Aaron Michael Benney.
