Barbara Jeanne Wright-Papetti
Barbara Jeanne Wright Papetti, age 91, went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2017. She was a very compassionate person who influenced many lives. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends will greatly miss her. Barbara resided in Clermont since 1966. A loving mother, Barbara, always encouraged her children to learn, not only at school but in all of their activities and hobbies. She was civic minded and always dutiful to her church, community, family and friends. She delighted especially in traveling and visiting her cherished friends and relatives, who greatly enjoyed and appreciated her visits. One of the highlights of her life was a 2008 trip to Italy where she particularly enjoyed visiting our father's relatives. Barbara was born in McKenzie, Tennessee in 1926, the daughter of Mary Lucy Welch Wright and William Talmage James Brittain Wright. She had many fond memories and often told stories of her childhood on a farm in McKenzie. She graduated from McKenzie High School in 1944. She served in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps and graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis with post graduate work and studies at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. She met Clarence Papetti in English class at the University of Tennessee, and they married in 1953. After leaving Memphis, they lived in Jacksonville, Florida; Huntington L.I., New York; and finally Clermont, Florida. She worked as an RN at South Lake Memorial Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1992. In retirement, she kept very active with, church, volunteer work, genealogical research, writing her memoirs, travel and spending time with her extended family and friends. Barbara is survived by her four children and their spouses, Rosemary Leonard (Tim) of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Thomas Papetti (Julie) of Huntsville, Alabama, Clare Gentry (Dave) of Maitland, Florida, and Lawrence Papetti (Margaret) of Lilburn, Georgia; by one sister, Martha Elizabeth Wright Wharton of Spartanburg, South Carolina; by nine grandchildren, Matthew Leonard, Katie Crawford, Eric Papetti, Christopher Papetti, Alexandra Willis, Katherine Gentry, Mary Papetti, Regina Papetti, and Noelle Gentry; by eight great-grandchildren; and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be at South Lake Presbyterian Church, 131 Chestnut St, Clermont, Florida on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Clermont, immediately following the service. A reception at South Lake Presbyterian Church, will follow the burial.
