Arthur Wayne Stewart
Arthur Wayne Stewart, 80, died peacefully on February 9 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Art was born July 22, 1938 to Evelyn (Townes) Stewart and Clarence Stewart in Cincinnati, OH. He joined the US Air Force, and then worked as an air traffic controller for the US Department of Transportation for 18 years, a job which he loved. Art was also a much respected local building contractor. He was a dedicated member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, and an avid sailor and motorcyclist. Art was a very accomplished man in many areas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Kolde. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia, and by four children: Arthur (Karen) Stewart, Lori (Steve) Barton, Nancy (Jeff) Thompson and Pamela (Tim) Smith. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 nephews. A visitation and Rosary Service will be held Friday, February 15 from 6:30-8:00 at St. John Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 16, at 11:00 AM at St. Johns. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemetery.
