Armando De La Cruz
Armando De La Cruz, age 84, passed away August 22, 2018, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born February 6, 1934, in Alfred, Texas to Julio De La Cruz and Refugia Medrano De La Cruz. He worked as a cook in many local restaurants, such as Allen's Drive Inn, William's Drive Inn, Dairy Burger, Dena's, Waynes, Americana, to name a few. After his retirement as a cook, he worked in the oilfield at Fishing Tool and Blair's Exxon. Armando also had both a gift and hobby in creating folk art. You would often find him crafting farm animals or automobiles with his gift. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death his parents, Julio De La Cruz and Refugia Medrano De La Cruz; sisters, Isabel Pacheco, Maria Chapa, and Sylvia Salinas; and brother, Felipe De La Cruz. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lydia De La Cruz; one son, Edward De La Cruz of Alice; two daughters, Deanna De La Cruz and Debra Ann De La Cruz (Enrico Serpico) all of Alice; brothers, Julio De La Cruz (Eva), Arturo De La Cruz (Betty), Danny De La Cruz (JoAnn), Santiago De La Cruz, and Israel De La Cruz (Kathy); sisters, Olga Jaques (Bill), Sulema Chapa, Julia Espinoza and Sara Vela (Lucio); grandchildren, Armando Jose Gonzalez (Lani), Nick M. Gonzalez, and Monalisa Rosales Buentello (Celso); great grandchildren, Miranda Garza, Mariah Garza, Ellery Anne Gonzalez, and Lydia Jane Gonzalez; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Roberson Collins Cemetery. Pallbearers will be A. J. Gonzalez, Nick M. Gonzalez, Sammy Pacheco, Luis Pacheco, Roy Medina, Arturo De La Cruz, Daniel De La Cruz, Israel De La Cruz and Frank Martinez. Funeral arrangements entrusted with ROSAS FUNERAL HOME, INC.
