Antal Gacs
Antal Gacs, 83, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his home in Libertyville surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 14, 1933 in Komarom, Hungary, came to live in the USA in 1956 and has lived in Libertyville since 1979. He was a former employee of International Harvester in Melrose Park and Echo Products in Wheeling. Antal became a racing pigeon fancier at the age of 6 and was a member of the American Pigeon Union. He was also a veteran of the US Army and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville. Surviving are his wife Eleonor Gacs; son, Anthony (Mary) Gacs of Mundelein and daughter, Natalie (Robert) Schuetz of Libertyville; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amanda, Billy, Jarrett and Trevor and also by his brothers and sisters living in Hungary, Miki, Bandi, Juri, Laci and Kati. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 19 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 am Thursday, July 20 and services will continue to St. Joseph Church for funeral mass at 10:00 am. Entombment with military honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Racing Pigeon Union Scholarship Fund, PO Box 18465, Oklahoma City, OK 73154-0465.
