Moreira, Alice J. Alice J. Moreira, 95, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at home on October 27 2016. She was the wife of Heitor Moreira, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. Born in 1921 in Plymouth, MA, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Leopoldina Simões. She was raised in Lousã, Portugal before moving to Danbury with her husband as newlyweds in 1946. In addition to raising three children and actively supporting extended family members, she was employed in the Danbury area before retiring from the Burroughs Corporation (Unisys) in 1986. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother to Manuel Moreira and his wife Inge of Green Valley, AZ, Dr. Irene Moreira and her husband Antonio Simões of Bethel, CT, David Moreira and his wife Ana Fonseca of Westport, MA; grandmother of five; and great grandmother of two. She is also survived by sisters, Irene Polaco and Sofina Mendes of Portugal; her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street Danbury, CT 06810 on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass is to be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Monday October 31, 2016 at the Sacred heart of Jesus church, 46 Stone Street, Danbury, CT 06810. Interment will immediately follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Lake Avenue extension, Danbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
