ORWELL - Alan James "Allie" Euber, 72, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at his home. He was born June 28, 1946, in Rutland, the son of Leland and Dorthea (Frasier) Euber. He attended Fair Haven Union High School. Mr. Euber was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, earned a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, and discharged as a Staff Sergeant. In earlier years, he was employed by Simmons Precision. He later worked for Standard Register, advanced from machine operator to management, and retired in 2002, after 35 years. He won many National Benchrest Shooting Championships, and was a Gold-level Precision rifleman and member of both United States Benchrest's Hall of Fame and Score Shooting Hall of Fame. He was an avid hunter. Survivors include his wife, Diane (Cloutier) Euber, of Orwell, whom he married May 11, 2002, in Brandon; a daughter, Kelli Zauli, of Orwell; two sons James Euber, of Essex Junction, Eric Euber, of Orwell; siblings Joan O'Neil, of Leicester, Leland Euber II, of Salisbury; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Euber was predeceased by two brothers Jesse and Gordon Euber. The graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell. A reception will follow at the Brandon American Legion. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
