In memory of
Agnes B. Dickson
Agnes B. Dickson, 92, of Tunkhannock, died Nov. 25, 2020, at the Willowbrook Place Senior Living. She was born in Woodbridge Twp., N.J., and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Agnes Brown Bothwell, who moved from Scotland to America in the early 1920s. Agnes was married to the late James R. Dickson for 55 years. Agnes was a registered nurse and gained her degree from the Jersey City Nursing School. Agnes was one of the founding members of the Tunkhannock Ambulance Association, and she taught EMT classes for many years, finally retiring at age 88. Agnes was awarded 2012 James "Sox" Ruane Outstanding Provider of the Year by Geisinger Health Systems for her community service. She also was awarded Pennsylvania EMS Educator of the Year in 2018. Agnes volunteered at Tyler Memorial Hospital, where she was the ICU supervisor for many years. She also taught CPR for the Red Cross and was an integral part of that organization for many years. Agnes never stopped being a nurse and was always willing to share her knowledge with others. Agnes was also a member of the Red Hat Society, proudly wearing her red and purple. She enjoyed puzzles, bunco, crafts and being with friends, but her favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, grandson, and four brothers. She is survived by a son, James Jr. and his wife, Laura, and her daughter, Karen and her husband, Ned Sherman, all residing in Tunkhannock; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Sunnyside Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Shaffer officiating. Those attending are asked to abide Pennsylvania COVID regulations and wear a face covering. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tunkhannock Ambulance Association, P.O.
