BENNETT, Winona "Nona" May May 22, 1935 – December 30, 2016 Surrounded by loved ones, Nona passed away peacefully in Kamloops, BC after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Jean Summers, her sister, Diana Jesperson, two sons, "Jimmie" and "Mickie," and nephew, "Dougie." Left to miss her are her daughter, Pam (Rod) Carr, sons, Don Bennett (Sally Arai) and Dave (Karen) Bennett, sisters, Joan (Dick) Cresswell and Linda (Morris) Brown, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and dear friends. Nona was born in Vancouver, but called numerous BC communities home throughout her life, with her final residence in Penticton. She loved her more than 20 years as Administrative Assistant with the Ministry of Agriculture in the Okanagan, where she made many cherished friends. As loving and generous a person as one will ever know, Nona was able to overcome nearly every challenge she encountered. She was a model of courage and an inspiration to us all. We are greatly saddened by her passing, but we are strengthened in knowing that she is at peace and cherished memories of her will always be with us. A memorial service and reception will be held for Nona at St. David's Anglican Church in Tsawwassen, BC on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. There will also be a graveside service at Canyon View Cemetery in Summerland, BC when the flowers begin to bloom in May.
