DANCEY, William Bruce December 17, 1925 – Detroit, Michigan October 10, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Bruce Dancey of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Bruce completed grade nine in June of 1940, and began farming in 1942 until 1951; he continued farming from 1959 to 1962. Bruce was a grain buyer for the United Grain Growers for thirty-one years, until his retirement in 1985. Bruce married Irene Dancey (nee Blumhagen) on December 12, 1949 in Castor, Alberta. He was born in Detroit, but later moved to Carstairs and then Calgary in 2003. Bruce was a kind and compassionate man, had a great sense of humour, and was always helpful to those around him. Bruce is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and John, Phyllis and Jim; two sons, Brian and Dennis; eight grandchildren, Michelle and Darren McMullen, Mark and Zoe Bainton, Carmen and Cam Clark, Bradley and Ashley Dancey, Jamie and Cory Spencer, Lyndsey and Marlon Serrano, Chris Berthold; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Bruce was predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene; his parents, Jean and Stanley Dancey; brother, Doug; granddaughter, Tracey; special friend, Sophie Van Ember; and numerous sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bruce's many friends, as well as all the wonderful staff at the Whitehorn Village Retirement Community, and more recently, the Dulcina Hospice, where he resided for the past three months. A celebration of Bruce's life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
