CORRY, Sondra 82, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, of Alzheimer's. Born in Newark, New Jersey, she married Harry Brown in 1953 and had four children. Sondra and Harry became missionaries and moved their family to Sherbrooke, Quebec, where they subsequently divorced. Sondra went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, followed by a Master's degree in Women's Studies and a second Master's degree in Library Science. She became a feminist activist and reporter on women's issues and campaigned to eliminate sexism and misogyny from the pornography industry. Sondra moved to Philadelphia in 1985 and became a Librarian for the Free Library, serving as a union steward there for many years. She retired in 2009, living out her final years at Stapeley Hall. Preceded in death by parents, Matthew and Gladys; sister, Diane; and Aunt Ethelwyn Trevenen. She is survived by her children, Joanne (Mary), Kevin, Robin, Lauren; her brother, John Corry (Harriet); and grandchildren, Griffin, Aaron, and Ivy. Donations honoring Sondra may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society.
