Sheila Martin Roberts May 6, 1943 - September 19, 2016 Sheila passed away after a long struggle with illness and injury, in Regina, Saskatchewan on Monday, September 19, 2016. She is survived by her husband Joseph Roberts, her children Natalya Kuziak, Sara Kuziak, her step children, Eric Roberts (Mona), Chris Roberts (Katherine), and her grandchildren Bryony Kuziak, and Adam and Claire Kehoe (Roberts). Sheila attended the U of Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964 and continued her studies throughout her life. Sheila's first marriage was to Myron Kuziak in 1962 and they raised two daughters, Natalya and Sara. Her second marriage to Joseph Roberts was in 1987 and she became the stepmother to Eric and Chris. Sheila was an accomplished organizer, negotiator, facilitator and leader in the Saskatchewan arts and cultural community. From 1974 to 1989, Sheila was the Saskatchewan representative for the Alliance of Canadian Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) in Regina. In the early 90s, Sheila became a visual and literary arts consultant for the Sask. government, liaising with cultural organizations and contributing to Status of the Artist legislation. She was a lifelong community activist, who believed in social justice, civil rights, women's rights and other causes and she participated in countless social movements. Sheila was a passionate woman with many interests, such as theatre, dance, art, music, gardening, and birding. She was a great fisherwoman due to many large fishing trips with family and friends to northern Saskatchewan. She was known for her cooking, gourmet family meals and fabulous dinner parties. Sheila loved to travel, including trips to Asia with her parents, England and Scotland for school, and later to China, Europe, the US and across Canada. Hers was a rich, satisfying, but too short life. Sheila was loved by many people and will be dearly missed.
