Bob was born and bred a Toronto boy.He marveled at Toronto's ever changing skyline and knew the history behind most of its street names.He believed in the Leafs and never stopped cheering on the Jays, Raptors and the Argonauts. Bob was a commodities trader and continued to write a regular financial newsletter until the day before he died. His knowledge and experience in his field were unparalleled. He loved trading all aspects of the Futures market for over 40 years. He started with Merrill Lynch and ended with Peregrine Financial. He was a small 'c' Conservative believing that the individual was the most important part of a democracy. He was active in political campaigns ranging from Stanfield, Frank Miller to Harper and Ford while continuing to participate in local parliamentary races.Bob cofounded the Islington Community Golf Association with his friend, John Tyers.He was a lay bencher with the Law Society of Upper Canada and served on the Board of the Kidney Foundation of Ontario. He was a voracious reader, loved doing crossword puzzles and going to the movies weekly with Christine.He loved being active and engaged in golf, billiards, bridge, and travel.He had a heart of pure gold and had a strong work ethic.He loved his wife of 36 years, Christine,with all his heart and adored his children, Rob Jr., Sara (Stuart), John, Jeremy and his grandchildren, Avery, Greer and Carter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's name can be made to Christine Tebbutt c/o Islington Golf Club. The funds will be used for a memorial to be installed at Islington Golf Club.Bob's family will receive friends at Islington Golf Club for a Celebration of his life from 3 to 5pm on Wednesday, October 19.
