Dad is survived by his sister, Betty Hougard; son, Ron Johnston (Leslye); and his daughters, Alyn (Chris) Bruce and Bonnie (Greg) Gisborne; grandsons, Jesse Bruce, Corre Bruce, Gensen (Erin) Gisborne), Slade Gisborne and Sydney Gisborne; granddaughters, Bobbi (Jon) Janhsen and Terri Bruce (Blair); great-grandchildren, Kristoffer and Rosie Janhsen, Duncan Bodner and Jameson Gisborne; step-grandson and family, Shane (Tracy) Batch, Ethan, Kaitlyn; step-granddaughter and family, Shauna (Mike) Flux, Chesney, Corbin and Georgia. Dad was born and grew up in Edmonton where he started his lengthy career with Alberta Government Telephones (Telus). After 34 years of service, he retired as manager within the accounting department. Besides the family, Dad's passions were golf, curling and bowling. Curling is where he met the love of his life, Mom. After retiring from AGT (Telus), Bob and Merle were known for their dedication for volunteering in the city of Edmonton and were members of the congregation of McClure United Church. As avid card players, Dad and Mom shared their love playing Bridge at the North Edmonton Lions Senior Center, Crib at the Londonderry Community Hall and Kings in the corner sitting at the kitchen table. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation for the loving and compassionate care Dad received by the staff and volunteers at Capital Care Norwood. Special thanks to Dr. Henderson. Funeral Services will be held at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton on October 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.
