MITCHELL, Orval William Edward October 11, 1927 – Virden, MB October 15, 2016 – Calgary, AB Orval William Edward Mitchell of Calgary passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the age of 89 years. I have always been so proud of Dad and his accomplishments with only half of grade nine. From the farm he went on to work in the oil and gas fields. Working his way up, he took early retirement from Suncor as a Senior Engineer after forty-five years. He was always very involved with First Alliance Church and found different ways to minister. After building their first real sound system, Dad's passion become a tape ministry for individuals unable to leave their home until, for his own health reasons, he had to stop. Orval is survived by the love of his life Evelyn (nee Sheane) Mitchell whom he had a sixty-seven year love story that he loved to share with people. He is also survived by two daughters Sharon and Brenda-Lee; and grandchildren, Andrea, Randall, Merlin, Shalena-Lee (Shay) and Billie-Jim (BJ) and his wife Michelle that Dad always referred to as his girlfriend. Dad loved all his grandchildren and always prayed for them to know the love of Christ. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren that he loved and adored: Evangelena, Kerlinda, Ethan, Isabella, Kylie, and Judah. Dad's love and example of Christ will be missed by all of us. Dad is also survived by one sister Joy Quinn and one brother Ken Mitchell whom he also loved very much and enjoyed spending as much with them as he could. A great number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will miss Dad's sense of humor and encouragement. Funeral Services will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40th Street S.E.) on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . Thank you to Pastor Ray at First Alliance Church for the fellowship and bond that you had with Dad. He so loved your times together. Thank you to the staff of Walden Heights who has been such a part of his life the last couple of years. I know you too will miss Dad's sense of humor, stories and love he shared with you. Thank you to South Health Campus. He always knew he would receive the best care and respect from the doctors and nurses there. In living memory of Orval Mitchell, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
