McCALLUM, Lorna (nee Buchkowsky) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 It is with great sorrow that we bid farewell to our much-loved Lorna, who passed away at the Edmonton General Hospital on January 10, 2017 in her 72nd year. After a courageous battle with cancer, she went peacefully to her heavenly home with her family by her side. Lorna was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 31, 1944, where she lived her whole life. She graduated from Ross Sheppard High School in 1962, and married Richard McCallum on November 7, 1964; they were married for 52 years. She is survived by her husband Richard; daughter, Carrie (Darren); granddaughters, Megan, Kaitlyn and Mikayla; siblings, Deanna, Dennis (Maja), Carl (Terry), Richard (Gina), David (Jean) and Gary (Liz). She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Mae as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by parents Philip and Vera and brothers James and Ronald. Lorna was a beautiful, gentle and caring person. She had an unwavering faith in God. Lorna was a woman of great style and substance, and enjoyed sewing, reading, travel and fashion, as well as caring for her family. As a dedicated mother and wife, she devoted her life to loving her husband and raising her daughter and doting on her granddaughters. She was faithful in the care of her mother, until she passed away at 95 in the fall of 2016. We want to thank you for your love, prayers and support for Lorna and our whole family. We specifically want to acknowledge with gratitude the staff at the General Hospital, as well as Dr. Ryan Snelgrove and Dr. Janice Fletcher for their outstanding care. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17 at Beulah Alliance Church (17504 98a Ave NW), with a reception to follow. A family viewing and graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home (16204 Fort Rd NW), with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Africa Inland Mission International, 1641 Victoria Park Ave., Scarborough, Ontario M1R 1P8.
