In memory of
John Derek "Jack" Ellison
John Derek "Jack" ELLISON Born: February 12, 1933, Toronto. Died: January 8, 2017, Toronto. Peacefully and embraced by his family at North York General Hospital on Sunday, January 8, 2017 in his 84th year. Son of the late John Clyde Ellison and the late Sarah "Sally" Ellison (nee McLaughlin). Devoted and loving husband to Elizabeth Ellison, caring and proud father to sons Chris and his wife Cory, Mike and his wife Rachel. Jack treasured his five grandchildren Dylan, Aidan, Logan, Carys and Miles. Jack's greatest passion after family remained the outdoors, always making time to pursue hunting and fishing, and sharing his experience, stories and wisdom with others. By many who knew him, Jack was the greatest natural marksman they ever met. After graduating University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Engineering, Jack began his career with the City of Toronto on public works projects such as the Don Valley Parkway. As a Vice President at Cadillac Fairview, Jack found time to earn an MBA at York University and was responsible for development of the Erin Mills community. Jack struck out on his own in the late 1980s developing housing communities across the GTA with his business partners, many of whom would also become lifelong friends. As a son of Irish immigrants who spent his entire life in Toronto, Jack took pride in the impact he had in shaping the city, being instrumental in providing hundreds of thousands of new homes for Toronto area families.
