In memory of
Isobel Anna BOESCH
BOESCH, Isobel Anna (nee Barton) September 11, 1918 – January 10, 2017 Isobel Boesch passed away peacefully on the afternoon of January 10, 2017 with her daughters and son-in-law by her side. Born on September 11, 1918 at the Regina General Hospital to Reverend Ernest Barton and Clara Jesse Barton, Isobel lived an amazing 98 years. The eldest of three children in a family that always valued education above all, she was an excellent example. After graduating high school at the age of 16, Isobel attended Normal School and became a teacher in Riceton, Saskatchewan at the age of 18, teaching multiple grades in a two room school house. In tiny Riceton she met and married the love of her life, Merle Boesch and became the ultimate farm wife for many years. Her daughters, Linda and Robin completed the family and became the impetus for the family farm...Roblin Farms. After years of caring for her beautiful yard and feeding an ever growing army of hired hands, Isobel returned to the University of Regina and completed her Bachelor of Education. With her children off at school, Isobel somehow managed to continue her important role at the farm and return to teaching, taking up a passion for teaching adult education. Upon retirement, Isobel and Merle spent many happy years travelling and enjoying cottage life in the Qu'Appelle Valley. Later years saw them heading south as snowbirds to enjoy the sun in California. Their final move was to Calgary to join their daughters and families and they both quickly found they loved it. The many friends they made were a big support after Merle predeceased Isobel in 1997. Isobel continued her active and lively life, including playing bridge, travelling with family and friends and enjoying many crossword puzzles, books, and becoming a part- time babysitter for her two great-grandchildren. Isobel was predeceased by her husband, Merle Boesch; her parents; her two brothers, Jim and Bob Barton; her son-in-law, Ross Waldo and her granddaughter, Tammy Berglund. Isobel is survived by her daughter, Linda Craig and husband Don; daughter, Robin Waldo and her children and grandchildren; her granddaughter, Tara Kortbeek and husband Lloyd and their children Isabella and Maxwell. She is also survived by her niece, Helen Wilton; nephew, Jim Barton and nephew, David Barton and their families. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . Isobel's family would like to thank the exceptional staff at the Beverly Centre Glenmore for the wonderful and compassionate care that she benefited so much from in the last years of her life. If friends so desire, Isobel would appreciate a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association in memory of her brother Bob Barton #204, 2323 – 32nd Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3 Telephone: (403) 266-0620, ext. 112, www.diabetes.ca .
