COLLINS, Hilda Hertha (née Peters) 1936 - 2016 Hilda Collins passed away October 9, 2016 at the Royal Vic Hospital in Montreal following a brief illness. Hilda was born in Winnipeg and after graduating from Lord Selkirk School, she worked as a Key Punch Operator at Great West Life Assurance Co. in Winnipeg. Hilda and Gordon Collins were married in Winnipeg and transferred to Montreal, then spent some years in Vancouver before moving back to Montreal, with their last years spent in Westmount. They enjoyed cruises, concerts, theatre, opera, and were members of the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club in Montreal. They enjoyed daily coffee with close friends at Le Café-Crème in Westmount. She practiced Tai chi for many years, she was a gourmet cook and an avid collector of cook books from around the world. She had a great wit and sense of humour. Family and friends were very important to Hilda and they will all miss her dearly. Hilda was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon on October 2, 2010. Also predeceased by her parents Herman and Olga Peters, cousins including Marlene and Trudy of Winnipeg, and brother- in-law Grant Downes. She is survived by brother-in-law Jim Collins (and Lucette) and sister-in-law Lib Downes, all of Winnipeg and many loving nieces and nephews and their families. Hilda is also survived by her lifelong friend and travelling companion Vickie Gosselin of Winnipeg and by her many friends in Westmount. Visitation to be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 and at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016 followed by the funeral service and burial at 12 p.m. An informal reception will take place between 3 and 4 p.m. following the funeral service on Monday, October 24 at her favourite coffee shop - Le Café-Crème, 357 Avenue Victoria, Westmount, QC.
