Gordon Anderson October 1938 - September 2016. Gord took his 'last flight' peacefully at home on Bowen Island, B. C. with his wife, Marolyn and daughter Karen by his side. He was born in Winnipeg, grew up in Nelson and graduated from L. V. Rogers Secondary. He joined Air Cadets while still in school and commenced training with the RCAF 2AFS in Portage in 1958. He was transferred to Baden-Solingen, Germany as part of the 422 Squadron 4(F) Wing NATO Forces. Shortly after his honorable release from the RCAF, he joined Air Canada. After 33 years he retired as a Captain on the Boeing 747-400. Gord was a truly meticulous and exceptional pilot and was very cognizant of his good fortune to take part in the profession. "My Air Force career and my career with Air Canada happened during the most exciting times imaginable in aviation." His lifelong search for knowledge included a Diploma in Photographic Technology from NAIT, a BSc. from the Univ. of Winnipeg and later attended the Freehand School of Art in Langley. Gord was a member of ISASI, Retired Airline Pilots of Canada, SPAADS, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 and the Langley Masonic Lodge #184. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marolyn, daughters, Cathy and Karen, step-children, Corinne (Wade) and Ryan (Rosemary), grandchildren Samantha, Kristina, Kimberly, Emily, Seth, Brendan and India and a great granddaughter, Mya. Gord was predeceased by His mother Jessie, father Paul, and his faithful canine friends, Fergus and Maggie. A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 23 at 1400 hours at Cates Hill Chapel, Bowen Island, B.C.
