PALMER, Evelyn Patricia Mae Pat, who was born near the one silo town of Rutland, Sask., March 15, 1926 and moved to Brentwood Bay in 1937, passed peacefully on the evening of September 21, 2016. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jack in 2015, Mom is survived by her daughter Dawne (Dave), son Bill (Laurie), grandchildren Lyndie (Luke), Stasia (Jeremy), Lachlan, Hannah and great-grandchildren Justin and Elowen, sister-in-law Anne, nieces, nephew and many many friends. To all who knew and loved her she was Pat, Mom, Nanna, Aunty Pat. For close to 80 years Brentwood was called home. All who came to visit were welcome and enjoyed her cooking. Mom always said, " I hate cooking but love to eat!" Green was her favorite colour, "Any green", she said. (It could have been the bit of Irish in her.) Golf in the morning and gardening in the summer evenings were always a pleasure for her but most important was sitting with Dad at the point looking out over the bay. Nanna loved to hear what was happening in her grandchildren's lives and they were a never ending source of happiness and amusement for her. In return they got to learn about her life growing up, the importance of family and friends and sometimes received a bit of advice. We would like to thank all of the friends and family who kept in touch with Mom over the years. Some friendships went back to her school years, others more recent but all were important to Mom. Thank-you to Dr. Morrice and her staff for taking care of Mom and to the staff at Saanich Peninsula Extended Care Unit. Mom and Dad had many happy years together and it is through them that so many people were drawn together. All would agree that they are richer with the experience. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Ladies Auxiliary or a charity of your choice.
