CURREY, Donald Sydney October 31, 1926 – July 25, 2014 In hospital, surrounded by his family. Husband of 63 years of Berthe (nee Roberge). Also survived by his two daughters, Ginette Richard (Robert) and Sandra Phinney (Wayne), and his two sons, Michael (Gail) and Robert (Susan); his fifteen grandchildren, and his nine great- grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Sydney and Christine (nee Isles) and his lovely daughter, Christine. As a teenager, Dad served his country in World War II as a member of the highly secret Ultra Unit, before joining the London Police after the War, and then emigrating to Canada, alone and with no money at the age of 20. In Canada he served in the RCMP before founding his own business, D.S. Currey & Son Insurance in 1953. Self-taught, Dad lead a remarkable life. He was a wonderful husband and father, and a great friend, especially to many, many friends in the Armed Services. His quick wit and dry British sense of humour will be fondly remembered by all of those who met him. Thanks to everybody at the Civic Hospital who tended to Dad in the last few weeks. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Walkley Chapel 1255 Walkley Rd, Ottawa, ON K1V 6P9 613-731-1255 Friday, August 15, 2014 after 12 noon, followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Donations to The Salvation Army would be appreciated.
