On January 11, William (Bill) Nelligan peacefully departed with his family by his side. He was born into a large family in St. Catherines on October 19, 1924 and raised in Hamilton. When he was young he worked odd jobs to help support his family. He was a navigator in the RCAF in WW2 but luckily the war ended before he could ship out. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music and found his passion in piano. Classically educated with degrees ATCM, LTCL, FTCL, and LRSM, he played the masters' classics beautifully. He moved to Thunder Bay with his sons Mark and Brian in 1962 to teach piano, then moved to Toronto in 1973. There are many piano players here who will fondly remember learning from dad. He was pre-deceased by his ex-wife, Dorothy, and seven of his nine siblings. Missing him dearly are his sons Mark (Eyre) and granddaughter Heather (Wes) great granddaughter Samara, and Brian (Shelley) and granddaughter Katie. Also to mourn are his partner George Black, his sisters Anne and Isabel, and very many nieces and nephews and their families. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be on February 16 in Stoney Creek.
