THOMPSON, Beverly Joanne October 11, 1937 - October 7, 2016 "Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby." Bev passed away peacefully, according to her wishes, on Friday, October 7th, 2016 at Victoria General Hospital after a long painful complicated battle with diabetes. Bev is survived by her husband of 43 years Peter, sister Pat, sons Len (Di), Ron (Patsy), Rob (Della), step children Lin and Bruce, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Bev was born in Regina , raised in Vancouver and later made her home in Victoria. We're sure she takes great memories with her of boating and RV-ing around the Pacific Northwest. Also card games with family and friends, crafts including floristry, fun years working at the original Princess Mary Restaurant, and organizing grand celebratory parties, to that place "over the rainbow where troubles melt like lemon drops." The family would like to thank Dr. Rosenberg for his care over the last year and all the VGH staff on the 4th floor south for making Bev's last few weeks as good as they could have been. Special thanks go out to Wayne, Leanne Dr Smith and Dr Pewarchuk, and also to Helen Nex, a true friend indeed. Bev requested no service be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
