In memory of
HANMER, Bette — Passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 2, 2017, in her 94th year. Beloved wife, for 62 years, of the late Douglas Hanmer. Loving mother to Tom (Carrie), Greg (Sandra), David (Kimberly) and Ann (Doug Murray). Cherished grandmother to Courtney (Lonny), Whitney, Kaitlin, Sarah, Maryn, Paige, Marshall, Owen, Jamie (Anna) and Tricia. Dear great-grandmother to Kaleigh, Grace and Layla. Special sister to both her late brothers Robert Marshall and Gordon Marshall. A favourite "Aunt Bette" to her nieces and nephews. Nanny will be lovingly remembered by her "granddogs" Moose, Hunter, Peg, Gilmore, Stella and the late Farley. Bette graduated from the University of Toronto in Occupational Therapy and used these skills both as a therapist and as a "gifted" stay at home mother. Fond memories include summers at the family cottage on Lake Muskoka, winters in Longboat Key, Florida and travel with good friends. Special interests include volunteer work in the community and an active membership in Timothy Eaton Memorial Church and Kingsway Lambton United Church. Mom's passion and love were always centred on her family and many good friends. She was a devoted wife and best friend to Doug. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride of her life. Lifelong friends will always have a special place in her heart. The family will receive friends to share in the celebration of Bette's life on Saturday, January 21, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church (230 St. Clair Ave. W., Toronto). If desired, donations to the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation ( www.hollandbloorview.ca/donate ) would be greatly appreciated.
