O'SULLIVAN, Barbara October 24,1935 - January 5, 2017 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara (Mama) O'Sullivan (nee Olson). She put up such a courageous fight to stay with us. She was predeceased by son Jimmy, brother Arthur (Dorothy), and husband Sully. Mourning her passing and left to remember her are her children, Jerry (Linda), John, Carol (Mike), Jeff (Marney), Sully's son Ron (Karen); her sister Carol (Ed) and brother David (Linda); grandchildren Caitlin, Jimmy, Danny, Taylor, Blair, Brook, Chance, Riley, Justis, Christopher and Ryan; and great- grandchildren Mila, Juliet, Alexander and Payton, as well as extended family and many friends. Mom was born in Richmond and lived on Lyons Island until the age of 10. Life on the island was a great adventure that included rowing across the Fraser River to catch the school bus to Mitchell School. Her family then moved to Steveston where she met and married Jim Topley and raised her 5 children. After divorce, she married Sully and continued to raise her children in Steveston until retirement brought them to Armstrong to help daughter Carol and 3 grandchildren. Her passion in life was her family first and foremost. Curling, both as a player and through the teaching of youth, was a big part of her life for more than 50 years. She also took enjoyment from her work with the Odd Fellows and Three Links Lodges. We will put mom and Sully to rest in Tsawwassen in the spring. At that time we may have a small service. Thanks to the Doctors and staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, the community nurses in Armstrong and the compassionate staff at North Okanagan Hospice. In lieu of flowers and such, donations in Barb's name can be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society or Armstrong food bank. Forever in our hearts.
