REBEYKA, Anne October 28, 1919 – January 4, 2017 With hearts full of happy memories, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Anne Rebeyka, at the Misericordia Hospital, Edmonton, on January 4, 2017, in her 98th year. Anne was born October 28, 1919 near Cudworth, SK, the second eldest of five children of Wasyl and Dora Nawakowski. She met and married the one-room country school teacher, William (Bill) Rebeyka, in 1942 and they shared more than 71 years together until Dad's passing in 2014. She was the mother of Alvin, predeceased 2014, (Carol), Pauline (Lorne), and Ivan (Darlene) and adored Baba to Chris (Stacey), Angela (David), Evan (Kristen), Alexis and Jameson. Her legacy continues in her special great-grandchildren Becky, Caleb, Willem and Shaye. She also leaves behind her brother Nick (Marilyn) and many cherished nieces and nephews. Mom was the consummate wife, mother and Baba taking great pride in her family and homemaking skills, especially her incredible light-as-a-feather perogies. She rediscovered her artistic talent in her 40s and became an exceptional pysanky (Ukrainian Easter egg) artisan whose creations are found world- wide. She was a strong, classy, no nonsense lady with a generous nature and her own sly sense of humour. From a hard-working child on the early prairies to hairdressing school graduate to devoted wife to proud mother and wonderful Baba, we remember her with ever- lasting love. A funeral service will be at Westlawn Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road Edmonton, AB on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
