In memory of
Andrew Sheret Blaney
BLANEY, Andrew Sheret September 21, 1944 - January 2, 2017 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Andy. He had been suffering a serious illness for almost five years that many times tried to take his life. On the morning of January 2nd, 2017 the illness was successful. Andy was a Victoria born son to Margaret Sheret Blaney and Brud Blaney. Dad worked his entire life in the transportation/aviation industries, he was reserve Oak Bay Police Officer in the late 1960's and early seventies as well and then the trucking industry for the last twenty five years. Dad was predeceased by the love of his life Karen Jean in 2004 and there was not a day that went by he did not miss her greatly. Andy is now flying around in heaven with Karen and as mom would say they are "having a ball". Dad was an avid lover of all animals, aircraft pilot and aviation enthusiast. Dad loved any aircraft made in North America or Europe especially of the Second World War era. Andy is survived and will be missed terribly by his daughter Jeannie who loved her dad to the moon and stars and back, son-in-law Martin, 'Auntie Kay Sheret', sister Kathleen Blaney, brother Ian (Jane) Blaney niece Jeni (David), nephew Ian (Shara) and their family and "daughter #2" Sharon and Susan Sheret Findlay and her family and Spike Sheret and his family and many other cousins. We would like to thank our family's special angels Arlene and Sharon for assisting us with so much when dad became very ill. Arlene was always there when we needed anything for dad. Arlene and Sharon spent countless hours at the various Hospitals with dad, me and 'Auntie Kay 'was always there by dad's side advocating for him as well. "Auntie Kay" you are wonderful Auntie and thank you for everything and your love and support. We would like to thank dad's friend and co-worker Keith for always giving dad encouragement and emotional support in his months of illness. Dad loved to cook/bake and hang out with his family and animals and tell us wonderful stories about his beloved Grandparents Andrew and Annie Sheret. Dad would also tell us about our colorful Grandpa Charlie Blaney and Grandma Lilly Mae. We would personally like to thank all the staff at Aberdeen Hospital for being dad's "gang of angels" who made his last four years special and comfortable and well attended to. Wendy and Rachael you both are totally amazing women. Dad's entire 'gang of angels' at Aberdeen went beyond the call of duty to make him have a life again with such a serious illness. We would like to also thank dad's friends at Aberdeen for keeping him company and being there for him when he was so ill. With you folks he was not lonely anymore and thank you for your friendship and love. We would also like to thank Dr. Rene Weir and Dr. Russell Grimwood for also taking special care of Andy. We are also eternally grateful to you as well. We are all eternally grateful for the good care dad received from everyone. Our last words with my dad were I love you. Daddy what a special gift you gave Martin and I and thank you sir. A celebration of Life and Reminiscent Tea will be held at Aberdeen Hospital, 1450 Hillside Avenue in the recreation room at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 18th, 2017. Carpool please as there is limited parking. Please make sure you come healthy as many residents at the Hillside Unit have compromised immune systems and we want to keep everyone healthy. We would like to request in lieu of any cards or flowers that you tell your family, friends and pets you love them.
