In memory of
Alberta Ellen TRELEAVEN
TRELEAVEN, Alberta Ellen October 27, 1927 – October 14, 2016 Alberta Ellen Treleaven (Cole), aged 88 years, died peacefully on October 14, 2016 at the Misericordia Hospital from a stroke. She was predeceased by her daughter Valerie Joan House. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Rose Gagné, Donna (Rolly) Burton, Coleen Moore, Carl (Janice) Treleaven, Ray Treleaven and Cindy Roncin. Also missing her will be 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Alberta was born on October 27, 1927, a homebirth on a homestead by Maloy, Alberta, near the Beaver River. She spent her life raising children, beginning with her younger siblings before being put in foster care (her mother passed away when she was only nine years old). Later she married and had seven children to raise. She also took care of numerous foster children; some of them for many years. Alberta was an avid gardener, even up to two years ago when she suffered a heart attack. She loved to bring in the harvest and often gave a lot of it away to the food bank. She was also an avid knitter. She knit sweaters, hats, mittens and afghans for all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She also often made stacks of hats and mittens for charity. She was a real homebody, but she loved to walk everywhere she could. A Viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, and a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Our thanks go to the staff at the Misericordia Hospital for making her last month comfortable. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
