Zella Clark 1920 - 2014 Died peacefully at age 93 years on July 9, 2014 after a brief illness. Predeceased by siblings Lawrence, Mervin and Wanda Stade and her beloved husband Sidney. Survived by her six children Ian (Marjorie), Peter (Dianne), Keith (Sussan), Valerie, John and Stephen (Jo), ten grandchildren Charlie (Sarah), Joanna, Katja (Bryce), Jenna, Nicky, Kit, Carson, Connor, Ty and Wigs, and five great grandchildren. Zella Irene (Stade) Clark was born of pioneer ancestry in British Columbia's Fraser Valley. She grew up in Chilliwack, taught school in Powell River, served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in wartime Britain where she met and married Sid. Returning to Canada she raised six children in Vancouver and the cottage at Cultus Lake. An avid badminton and tennis player at the VLTCB, Zella was active in the Shaughnessy United Church and VanDusen Gardens, and she loved to travel. Following their move to Denman Island in 1980 Zella became a generous contributor to the Denman community and her gardens were a sight to behold. Zella will be fondly remembered by her family and all the friends she made wherever she lived and visited. Special thanks to Denman friends who have provided care in recent years, especially Joan Vinnedge, Doreen Tetz, and Jennifer Lee. A service will be held in the Denman Island United Church on July 21 at 11 am followed by a reception in the Seniors Hall at 12:30 pm.
