A lifelong learner, Heinz mastered AutoCAD in his 70s enabling him to work until health concerns resulted in his giving up his architectural license at the age of 90. The family asks those wishing to honour Heinz' memory, consider donating to either The Detlef Mertins Memorial Lecture (University of Pennsylvania) or the Richard Nutbrown Memorial Scholarship Fund (University of Waterloo).
