Barbara Anne Elizabeth Bryant BURGE
BURGE, Barbara Anne Elizabeth Bryant: April 27, 1924 to January 3, 2017. "The heavens just got a little bit merrier". Barbara passed away peacefully in Abbotsford at the age of 92. She leaves behind three daughters, Jill (Bob) McLean of Lynnwood, WA, Wendy (Dave) Gorner of Abbotsford, Dawn Benwell (Steve Kennell) of Kamloops and 8 grandchildren (Alissa, Stephanie, Russell, Ryan, Krista and Emily Gorner, Eric and Seamus Benwell) and four great-grandchildren (Hannah Hathaway, William and Layla Gorner and Claire Talbot). She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Born on the farm in Swan River, Manitoba to Jack Lawther Bryant and Edna Talbot Bryant, she grew up in the prairies with her 4 siblings. Barbara was athletic, strong willed and enjoyed adventures. During WW II she served in the RCAF in Vancouver and Montreal. She worked as a bank teller in Calgary before leaving on a Panama cruise. She hopped off the ship in the Bahamas and worked there for a few years. She met Andy Milam in Nassau. They married in Mexico City on Christmas Eve in 1957. She lived in the USA for a time before returning to Canada and settling in Penticton. A long- time employee of Okanagan Tel, mom enjoyed her life in Penticton, as well as some time in Kelowna, Lethbridge and Vernon. She loved beaches, swimming, cycling, tennis, playing bridge, ice skating, square dancing and her great friends. She participated in the Alberta and BC Seniors Games winning medals in tennis, table tennis and badminton. Her adventuresome spirit and ability to enjoy life will always be remembered. A memorial service will be held in Penticton during the summer. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
