In memory of
D. Ralph TORNEY
TORNEY, Major D. Ralph January 16, 1929 - January 4, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Douglas "Ralph" Torney on January 4, 2017 at Southlake Residential Care Village in Newmarket with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of the late Ruth (nee Arthurs) and his first wife the late Marguerette (nee Boucher). He was the loving father of Beth, Allan (Debbie), Louisa (Steve) and Michael (Korene). His life was enriched by his loving grandchildren Maryanne (Jeff), Douglas, William (Deanna) Jamie (Christina), Edward (Alanna), Robbie, Dannielle, Jennifer, Anthony, Samantha, Lauren and Julia and his 3 great-grandchildren Connor, Landon and Benjamin. He will be missed by Georgetta his loving stepmother and his dear younger sister Joan Wickham, his Torney and Arthurs family, and his many friends. He was proud to serve his country for 19 years in the Army, Air Force and in the Irish Regiment of Canada Reserve. He left military life to follow in his father's footsteps with a 30 plus year career at Imperial Oil Canada. He was never happier than when he had his family around and was delighted to include others as honorary family members. A special thank you to the staff at South Lake Regional Hospital for his excellent care and to the very special staff at South Lake Residential Care Village who made a true home for him; bringing him so much happiness and comfort over the past few years. Visitation will be held at McDougall and Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd, Saturday, January 7, 2017 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Melville Presbyterian Church, 70 Old Kingston, Toronto, Ontario. Burial ceremony will follow Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Gore United Church Lochaber, Quebec.
