In memory of
GILLIS, Thomas 1918 – 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas James Bernard Gillis on October 16, 2016 in his 99th year, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born in Ottawa and raised in Renfrew, Tom worked in the Public Service of Canada for 37 years before retiring in the role of Assistant Deputy Minister. Tom spent retirement at his cottage on Lake Clear which was the place he loved most on earth and where, as a boy, he met the love of his life. He will be greatly missed by Ruth (nee Kiefl), his beloved wife of 71 years. Predeceased by his daughter Laurie McLeish (Rob), he will be lovingly remembered by his children Kevin (Sally), Mark (Valerie), Nancy Grills (Doug), Paul (Sandra), Stephen (Monique) and Tom. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Carrie, Andy, Karla, Danny (Laura), Chelsea, Scott, Sarah (Tony), Michael (Tiffany), Jesse, Massimo, Thomas, Jonathan, Benoit, Zachary and Olivia; and his great-grandchildren Harlow, Sam and Gordon. He will be fondly remembered by his many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the nurses and caregivers at Granite Ridge for their wonderful kindness, compassion and support.
