In memory of
Margaret Joyce MELMOCK
MELMOCK, Margaret Joyce January 22, 1929 - October 9, 2016 Margaret (Peggy) Joyce Melmock passed away suddenly while visiting family on Vancouver Island on October 9. She was born in Saskatoon to Harry and Adelaide Craven and grew up in the Edmonton area. Peggy spent many happy childhood summers with her Grandma Leslie at Chip Lake and was a provincially acclaimed speed skater as a teen before taking up the teaching profession in her early 20's. She taught in Bermuda in the early 1950's then returned to Alberta to meet and marry Raymond Melmock (formerly Mylymok). Peggy and Ray spent many busy years raising their family in the community of Whitecroft outside Sherwood Park, Alberta. After Ray's death in 1994, Peggy eventually moved to Great Oaks Village in Sherwood Park where she spent nearly two decades making her home the centre of activity for family and friends. Peggy will be deeply missed by her three children Robin, Seth and Amy and by their spouses. She is fondly remembered and greatly missed by grandchildren Reade, Quinn, Tess, Kathleen and Adam, Stephanie and Raena, and by great-grandchildren Abbagail Rose and Aeva. Peggy cared deeply for her relatives from coast to coast, and she was loved by many close and devoted friends, teaching associates and family in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Peggy had a ready smile for everyone she met and one of her favourite expressions was "have a great time – and if you don't, it's your own darned fault!" She was a great light and we will all miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA or to St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sherwood Park, Alberta. A memorial for Peggy will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church at 4 Raven Drive, Sherwood Park, Alberta at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18. Wear bright colours!
